Most Important Skill in Business?

It isn’t time management.

It isn’t social media.

And it certainly isn’t buying more leads.

It is your ability to influence people.

I’m not talking about manipulation or pressure. I’m talking about helping people make decisions that are truly in their best interest.

As listing agents, we do this every day.

We help sellers decide when to sell, how to price their home, what improvements to make, and which offer to accept.

But here is the hard truth:

Most agents think they are better communicators than they really are.

If your message were clearer, your confidence stronger, and your communication more powerful, you would likely have more appointments, more listings, and a higher average sales price.

That gap will not be fixed by another lead source.

It is fixed by becoming a better communicator.

Before your next listing appointment:

  • Learn as much as possible about the seller.

  • Prepare for their likely fears and concerns.

  • Ask thoughtful questions.

  • Listen more than you talk.

  • Use stories to explain your value.

  • Keep your message clear and simple.

  • Stop selling once they are ready to move forward.

One of the best questions you can ask is:

“What would it take for you to feel comfortable moving forward?”

That question turns a sales pitch into a real conversation.

You don’t need to become louder or pushier.

You need to become more prepared, more confident, and more focused on helping the seller.

That creates trust.

And trust wins listings.
